"Democratic Party Moves Exactly as During Park's Impeachment"
"Public Support for Yoon Will Grow Even Stronger"
Broadcaster Lee Hyuk-jae commented on the arrest of President Yoon Seok-yeol, who is accused of being a ringleader of a rebellion, saying it is "merely a performance to show the public."
Lee Hyuk-jae recently appeared on the YouTube channel 'Ilyo Seoul TV' and shared his views on the current impeachment political situation. He began by saying, "No conservative right-wing entertainer, including comedian Choi Guk, is mentioned in any media. Not even I am mentioned at all." He continued, "Personally, I think, 'Ah, we are being recognized.' Seeing that the opposing camp does not mention us, I think, 'Our speech must be somewhat burdensome to them,' and 'They think Lee Hyuk-jae should not be touched.'
He then explained, "Strategy and tactics need to change according to trends, but the Democratic Party is moving exactly according to the manual used during former President Park Geun-hye's impeachment." He added, "We have already learned from that, so there hasn't been much division within the People Power Party. The president himself is actively defending and holding on." Furthermore, he said, "I don't understand why they are showing the scene of physically restraining the president, who still holds office, handcuffing him and putting him in a car." He claimed, "This is humiliation. It is a performance to imprint the image of the president in handcuffs on the minds of the hesitant and undecided public."
When asked by the host whether public opinion might shift to "How can they treat an innocent president like that?" Lee Hyuk-jae responded, "It will grow significantly. During former President Park's time, her approval rating was 5%, but now it is almost fifty-fifty," adding, "The constitutional court justices cannot help but deliberate carefully."
Meanwhile, Lee Hyuk-jae debuted as a comedian in 1999 as part of MBC's 10th public recruitment class and appeared in numerous variety shows such as 'Happy Sunday - Freedom Declaration: The Fist Cries,' 'Sunday Sunday Night,' 'Super TV Sunday is Fun,' 'Sunday is 101%,' 'Sponge,' 'Star Golden Bell,' 'Crisis Escape No. 1,' and 'Sunday is Good.' However, in the 2010s, he became embroiled in controversies including a room salon assault incident and wage arrears, and since the 2020s, he has not appeared on TV programs.
