Professor Lee Mina Receives Commendation from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education
Professor Lee Mina (Minseok College of Liberal Arts) at Dongseo University (President Jang Jeguk) was selected as the Best Course Professor in the 2024 Korean Massive Open Online Course (K-MOOC) Merit category and received a commendation from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education.
The course "Mathematics for Beginners Through Visual Learning" is designed for learners with insufficient basic math skills. It helps solve basic math problems by category and uses storytelling to teach the emergence of numbers, the background of formulas, and the history of mathematical terms, aiming to develop mathematical thinking, approaches, and the ability to solve problems mathematically.
In particular, the course presents difficult mathematical concepts in the form of stories, making them easy and approachable for learners, thereby fostering motivation to learn. It is characterized by enabling learners to independently solve problems through understanding concepts and problem-solving processes. The course is suitable for middle and high school students, university students needing basic math, and the general public.
Professor Lee Mina expressed her gratitude, saying, “I will continue researching and developing courses so that students can learn mathematics easily and enjoyably.”
Professor Lee began operating K-MOOC in 2022 with the self-participation course "Mathematics to Find and See," and in 2023, she was selected to develop and operate the course "Mathematics for Beginners Through Visual Learning," achieving successful results. Consequently, in the 2024 annual evaluation, the course was awarded the highest S grade and recognized as a Blue Ribbon course. It was also selected as a special field job training course for faculty, acknowledging its excellence.
