Special Measures in Six Areas Including Support for Marginalized Neighbors
Comprehensive Situation Room to Operate Until the 3rd of Next Month
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) will activate the ‘2025 Lunar New Year Comprehensive Plan,’ consisting of six areas: citizen safety, snow removal and cold wave response, support for marginalized neighbors, resolution of daily inconveniences, holiday price stabilization, and establishment of public service discipline, from the 24th of this month to the 3rd of next month.

The district will operate the Lunar New Year comprehensive situation room from the 27th to the 31st of this month to focus on managing the six areas and respond swiftly to any emergencies that may occur during the holiday period to minimize inconvenience to residents.
The citizen safety measures will focus on establishing emergency medical and healthcare systems and managing facility safety. From the 28th to the 30th of this month, the public health center’s medical response team will be activated to guide available hospitals and pharmacies and prepare for a large number of patients.
Additionally, during the three-day Lunar New Year holiday (January 28?30), 59 hospitals and clinics and 67 pharmacies will be designated and operated as open facilities. Furthermore, five medical institutions will operate 24-hour emergency rooms, and emergency medical services at the public health center will be provided on the 28th and 29th.
To ensure residents have a safe holiday, intensive inspections will be conducted on disaster-risk facilities such as construction sites, traditional markets, and multi-use facilities, along with inspections of social welfare facilities such as welfare centers and senior citizen lounges.
The snow removal situation room will be operated to maintain an emergency work system, and social networking services (SNS) will be used to quickly relay information to residents. When a cold wave advisory is issued, 87 cold wave shelters, including senior citizen lounges, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to help residents avoid the cold.
Before the holiday, consolation funds will be delivered to low-income residents such as recipients of public assistance and low-income single-parent families, and consolation goods including agricultural and marine products, fruits, and daily necessities will be provided to social welfare facilities and senior welfare facilities along with the funds.
From the 24th of this month to the 3rd of next month, the parking enforcement team will conduct guidance-focused enforcement and carry out strict crackdowns such as towing for illegal parking around shopping malls and large marts and cases that obstruct vehicle traffic and pedestrian safety.
To maintain clean streets, household waste collection and intensive street cleaning will be conducted before the holiday, and thorough prior notice regarding the waste disposal prohibition period (household waste on the 28th?29th, large waste on the 29th?30th) and permissible disposal days will be provided to keep major roads and streets clean.
District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “With the long holiday approaching, we will mobilize administrative power to thoroughly prepare for all situations so that residents can have a safe and warm Lunar New Year holiday,” adding, “I hope all residents check if there are any marginalized neighbors around them and enjoy a joyful holiday with family and relatives.”
