Sacheon Sea Cable Car & Aramaru Aquarium Selected as One of Korea's Top 100 Tourist Attractions

Aggressive Marketing Campaigns Launched in Connection with the 2025 Sacheon Visit Year

Sacheon Sea Cable Car and Aramaru Aquarium, representative tourist attractions in Sacheon, Gyeongnam, have been selected for the Korea Tourism Organization’s ‘2025-2026 Korea Tourism 100.’

As a result, Sacheon Sea Cable Car and Aramaru Aquarium have earned the honor of being selected for the first time as Sacheon’s representative tourist attractions in the Korea Tourism 100, establishing themselves as the nation’s top marine tourism destinations.

The Korea Tourism 100 is a project that selects 100 representative tourist destinations in Korea every two years that both Koreans and foreign visitors must visit. This year marks its seventh edition.

After discovering preliminary candidates through the existing Korea Tourism 100, local government recommendations, and big data analysis, new Korea Tourism 100 destinations are selected through document evaluation, on-site evaluation, and a selection committee review.

Sacheon Sea Cable Car, located at the center of Hallyeohaesang National Park, is Korea’s first cable car connecting mountains, sea, and islands. It is a landmark of Sacheon tourism and the world’s safest cable car, adopting an automatic circulation dual-line system.

Additionally, Sacheon Sea Cable Car, selected as an inbound safe tourism destination in 2022, offers sparkling reflections on the calm sea like a lake during the day and a splendid night view of Samcheonpo Bridge and Sacheonai Ferris Wheel at night.

In particular, visitors can enjoy views of Samcheonpo Bridge, which was awarded the grand prize in the Korea Tourism Organization’s ‘2006 Korea’s 100 Most Beautiful Roads’ and selected for the ‘2020 Night Tourism 100,’ as well as Silan Sunset, one of the ‘Top 9 Sunsets Nationwide’ in 2009.

Aramaru Aquarium is the largest aquarium in Gyeongnam, designed with the Solar Mirror System, a purely domestic technology, creating an environment closer to nature for its exhibition halls.

It features over 300 species of mammals and rare fish, including the only domestic individual of the Schubel, the first successful underwater exhibition of a hippopotamus in Korea, and the Galapagos iguana, exhibited for the first time in an aquarium, boasting unique viewing elements that are ‘the only’ and ‘the first’ in Korea.

As a key tourist destination accounting for 22% of total visitors among major tourist sites in Sacheon City, Aramaru operates alongside Aramaru Zoo, Sacheonai Ferris Wheel, and a carousel, establishing itself as a tourism landmark of Sacheon City together with Sacheon Sea Cable Car.

Meanwhile, Samcheonpo Bridge Park, which serves as the backdrop for Sacheon Sea Cable Car and Aramaru Aquarium, hosts the Saturday Regular Stage Proposal performances every year from July to October, offering citizens high-quality cultural performances.

A city official stated, “Along with the 2025 Sacheon Visit Year, we will vigorously promote Sacheon Sea Cable Car and Aramaru Aquarium to accelerate the attraction of tourists.”
