Free Parking at 226 Schools in Seoul
to Ease Parking Difficulties During Lunar New Year
From the Lunar New Year holiday on the 24th to the 30th, school parking lots and playgrounds within the jurisdiction of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will be open free of charge.
On the 21st, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it will open the playgrounds and parking lots of 226 public and private schools in the area free of charge to help local residents and returning visitors with parking convenience during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
By district, there are 29 locations in Gwanak-gu, 24 in Seongbuk-gu, 20 in Dongjak-gu, and 16 in Gangnam-gu, among others.
Information on the schools with open parking facilities and the opening hours for each school can be found on the notice board on the Office of Education's website.
The Office of Education plans to provide information on the opening of parking facilities through the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Shared Nuri service to ensure smooth access to school parking facilities, and to offer a safe parking environment during the holiday period through mutual cooperation among related organizations, including cooperation with district offices and increased police patrols.
Jung Geun-sik, Superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "By opening school facilities during this Lunar New Year holiday, we expect to solve the parking problems of Seoul citizens living in residential areas with insufficient parking spaces and provide a more convenient parking environment for visitors coming to see their parents and relatives."
