Providing Jobs, Exploring Careers Through Social Contribution
New 'Loneliness Care Companion Team' Project Launched
Seoul City announced on the 21st that it will provide 5,700 'Middle-aged Value Companion Jobs' this year. This is Seoul City's representative social contribution job project that helps middle-aged people engage in social contribution and explore careers while working.
Earlier, last month, Seoul City introduced the 2025 project at the 'Value Companion Job Performance Sharing Meeting and Brand Launch Ceremony,' marking the 10th year of the project and changing the project name from the previous 'Boram Jobs' to 'Value Companion Jobs.'
The Middle-aged Value Companion Jobs are launching a new brand this year and starting the first large-scale recruitment. Seoul City plans to recruit the largest number of participants ever to establish a new paradigm where the middle-aged grow together with the local community. In particular, to realize a Seoul without loneliness, a new project called the 'Loneliness Care Companion Team' will be promoted as part of the Middle-aged Value Companion Jobs to identify isolated and reclusive households, provide counseling, and deliver close services.
Recruitment of participants will be conducted sequentially from January to March. In the first recruitment starting on the 21st, 2,475 participants will be selected focusing on areas such as accompanying persons with disabilities, senior meal services, and school safety. Eligibility to apply is for citizens aged 40 to 67 who reside in Seoul or whose workplace address is in Seoul. Selected participants will receive a monthly activity allowance of 571,710 KRW for about eight months.
Jung Jin-woo, Director of Lifelong Education Bureau of Seoul City, stated, "The Middle-aged Value Companion Jobs provide a win-win opportunity for the middle-aged generation to contribute socially and participate continuously, while offering warm and delicate services to citizens in need. We hope this project will become established as one where the experience and values of the middle-aged spread throughout society, and both the middle-aged and citizens grow and accompany each other together."
