No parking fees will be charged for one week from the 24th to the 30th
Expectations for revitalizing nearby shops and traditional markets
Taean County in Chungnam will open the Nammun Public Parking Lot in Taean-eup for free during the Lunar New Year holiday.
The county announced that, in order to create a warm holiday atmosphere and promote the revitalization of traditional markets and the local economy, it has decided not to charge parking fees at the Nammun Public Parking Lot for one week from Friday, the 24th to Thursday, the 30th.
This year's Lunar New Year holiday, including the temporary holiday and weekend, will be from the 25th to the 30th.
The county will not collect parking fees for vehicles exiting the lot from midnight on the 24th to midnight on the 30th, and the validity period for monthly pass vehicles will be extended by seven days during this period.
A county official stated, "This free opening is intended to provide convenience for both returning visitors and residents during the Lunar New Year holiday. Since the Nammun Public Parking Lot is close to nearby shops, we also expect it to help boost the local economy. We will thoroughly manage roads, sanitation, safety, and other areas to ensure that visitors can enjoy a comfortable holiday."
Meanwhile, the Nammun Public Parking Lot is located in Nammun-ri, Taean-eup, and boasts a spacious area with 414 parking spaces.
In 2020, the county invested a total of 4.5 billion KRW to add a two-story parking tower. Due to complaints about long-term parking and illegal parking in the area, as well as the increased risk of safety accidents, the parking lot began charging fees in February 2023.
