RaonSecure contributes to eradicating deepfake crimes by launching a mobile app that allows anyone to easily detect deepfakes using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
IT security and authentication platform company RaonSecure (CEO Lee Soon-hyung, Lee Jung-ah) has incorporated a feature that enables anyone to detect deepfake videos or images via a mobile app into its personal mobile antivirus app, ‘Raon Mobile Security.’
As generative AI technology becomes increasingly advanced and accessible, RaonSecure developed deepfake detection technology to join efforts in combating the serious issue of deepfake crimes. In fact, from January to November last year, the number of deepfake sexual crime reports received by the National Police Agency approached 1,000 cases, and the government is accelerating the enactment of the AI Basic Act, which includes measures to prevent deepfake crimes. Through RaonSecure’s deepfake detection technology, anyone can help prevent defamation of specific individuals and social confusion caused by false information, as well as proactively respond to the theft of personal and corporate assets and information.
Raon Mobile Security is a personal mobile antivirus app that provides AI-based smishing detection, malicious app detection, and hacking prevention. RaonSecure has added its self-developed AI-based deepfake detection feature to this app. Users can upload videos or images stored on their smartphones or YouTube links to Raon Mobile Security and find out within seconds how likely the content is to be a deepfake manipulated by generative AI.
The deepfake detection technology embedded in Raon Mobile Security uses multiple models that detect unnatural facial features such as face shape and eye and mouth movements by employing AI trained to classify synthetic faces versus real faces through facial extraction and frequency domain transformation techniques. RaonSecure plans to add real-time deepfake detection services to Raon Mobile Security in the future. This will enable real-time detection of whether the person on a video call is impersonating a friend with a manipulated face. Currently, Raon Mobile Security is available for free, including the deepfake detection feature, and more advanced paid deepfake detection features will be offered later.
RaonSecure also plans to provide its deepfake detection technology as an application programming interface (API) service for enterprises and is developing deepvoice detection technology to identify voice impersonation. The company intends to offer deepfake and deepvoice technologies to various organizations, including financial institutions, public agencies, and telecommunications companies, to prevent damages caused by impersonation of employees or customers. Additionally, companies will be able to comply with AI-generated content labeling regulations by distinguishing deepfake creations using RaonSecure’s technology.
