A man in his 40s who assaulted a convenience store owner and fled after stealing money was arrested.
The Gwangju Western Police Station announced on the 19th that they have apprehended and are investigating a man in his 40s, identified as A, on charges of robbery and injury.
A is accused of punching the face of a female store owner in her 50s, B, at a convenience store in Hwajeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, around 10:40 a.m. that day and stealing 100,000 won in cash.
Police who responded to the report caught A about an hour and 30 minutes later at a nearby PC bang after he fled the scene. During the investigation, A reportedly mentioned "living expenses" as the motive for the crime.
The police have applied for an arrest warrant for A and are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
