Expanding 'Kindergarten-Elementary School Connection Education'
68 Public and Private Kindergartens and 68 Public Elementary Schools Participating
The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education is expanding the number of public and private kindergartens and public elementary schools participating in the 'Kindergarten-Elementary School Connection Education' program to 68 each.
According to the Office of Education on the 19th, 'Connection Education' is a system designed to help children about to enter elementary school adapt smoothly to the new environment and grow up healthy by providing education in kindergartens or daycare centers.
Following a pilot program in 2023, last year the Office of Education operated the program by linking 34 public and private kindergartens with 34 elementary schools on a one-to-one basis.
This year, the program will be significantly expanded to include after-school programs, connections with elementary schools under the Neulbom School initiative, connections with rural elementary schools, and class-to-class connections between kindergartens and elementary schools (with no grade restrictions).
Superintendent Lee Jungseon said, "We will thoroughly implement Connection Education and other related programs so that both children and parents, who may feel both excitement and anxiety before entering school, can be fully satisfied."
