Introducing Smart Concepts Across Administration
Enhancing Innovation and Efficiency
Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that it held a plaque ceremony at the district office plaza on the 17th following its selection for the '2024 Smart City Certification' organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The Smart City Certification is a system implemented since 2021 by the government to discover excellent smart city models and promote them domestically and internationally. Dongdaemun-gu received high evaluations in the private and citizen capacity sectors, achieving final selection in this certification contest.
Since the launch of the 8th elected administration, the district has presented a vision for smart city development through a smart city proclamation ceremony and has provided various smart services to residents, including ▲operating a smart city living lab ▲establishing the Dongdaemun Smart District Mayor’s Office ▲installing smart poles.
Additionally, the district secured budgets by being selected for several contest projects such as ▲smart village dissemination and expansion ▲integrated safety smart pole construction, and has actively promoted resident-centered policies based on these.
In recognition of these efforts, it also received the Grand Prize in the Urban Innovation category at the ‘2024 Korea Local Government Innovation Awards.’
Going forward, Dongdaemun-gu plans to actively promote resident-experienced smart city projects and introduce smart concepts throughout administration to enhance innovation and efficiency in governance.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “We will systematically implement smart city policies and manage the city innovatively overall,” adding, “We will create a smart city of coexistence and leap where people, environment, and objects are connected.”
