Ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, Pocheon City visited the designated cold wave emergency shelters (Pocheon City Disaster Safety Situation Room), 24-hour cold wave shelters (Smart Bus Stop in front of Pocheon City Hall), and cold wave shelters (Wangbang Senior Citizens' Center) to inspect the management status of the facilities.

The campaign involved about 20 participants, including Vice Mayor Kim Jong-hoon, staff from Pocheon-dong Administrative Welfare Center, and the Citizen Safety Division, who promoted winter cold wave preparedness guidelines and the newly updated coverage details of the Citizen Safety Insurance.

In particular, they provided guidance on flu prevention and cold-related illness response measures targeting the elderly vulnerable to cold-related diseases, and distributed heat packs and other cold-weather supplies along with promotional materials on cold wave preparedness to help citizens struggling with the winter cold spend a warm season by visiting the cold wave shelters.

Vice Mayor Kim Jong-hoon also inspected the cold wave shelter signboards and heating facilities, and listened to the opinions of senior citizens at the senior center to ensure there were no inconveniences in using the cold wave shelters.

Kim Jong-hoon, Vice Mayor of Pocheon City, stated, “We will regularly check and inspect the operation status of cold wave evacuation facilities to ensure that vulnerable groups can live warmly in preparation for the cold wave, strengthen the response system, and promote active use of the cold wave shelters by citizens.”

Meanwhile, Pocheon City has designated and operates 247 cold wave shelters that citizens can easily access to minimize damage caused by cold waves.
