Sweeping Half of All Awards in the Robotics Category
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia have been recognized internationally for their design competitiveness by winning numerous prestigious design awards in the United States.
On the 17th, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia announced that a total of 19 products were selected as winners in various categories such as transportation and robotics at the '2024 Good Design Awards' in the United States.
The U.S. Good Design Awards are presented by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies, jointly selecting outstanding design products in each category.
First, Hyundai Motor Company's future mobility concepts 'DICE,' 'SPACE,' and 'CITY POD,' which were showcased at last year's CES, received Good Design Awards in the transportation category.
DICE is a personal mobility device based on artificial intelligence (AI) that provides optimized, customized services to passengers, SPACE is a public mobility solution that meets various user needs, and CITY POD is a logistics mobility vehicle equipped with hydrogen energy technology.
Kia's overseas strategic model K4 was also included in the list of awardees. The K4 emphasizes a dynamic and robust form based on Kia's design philosophy of 'Opposites United.' The front features starmap lighting technology inspired by constellations, and the side has a fastback shape with a gentle curve extending from the roof to the rear end.
The Genesis Neorun concept was also selected for the Good Design Award. Emphasizing 'beauty in simplicity,' Neorun uses colors reminiscent of Korean nights and actively reflects Korean sensibilities by applying a radiant heating system inspired by ondol, Korea's traditional floor heating method.
In the robotics category, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Robotics Lab's five products?XBL Shoulder, Dali Delivery, Moved Delivery, Smart Factory Maintenance Robot, and Service Robot Dali?were selected as excellent designs. Hyundai and Kia swept half of the 10 awards in the overall robotics field.
Additionally, they received awards for lifestyle-oriented products such as home electric vehicle chargers, sustainable die-cast packaging, multi-lanterns, Pony diffusers, and various branding designs.
A Hyundai Motor Company and Kia representative said, "This is the result of our continuous efforts and dedication to providing differentiated experiences to customers," adding, "We will offer differentiated customer value through new designs that break away from conventional frameworks."
