In particular, the melon course focused on addressing issues caused by last year's abnormal climate, such as excessive fermentation and tobacco whitefly control measures during melon cultivation. The apple course covered problems and solutions related to poor coloring due to climate change, as well as high-quality apple cultivation techniques to increase farm income. The rice course provided education on high-quality rice production techniques and management of major pests and diseases.

Additionally, through a Q&A session, farmers shared on-site difficulties and experts offered solutions to address the challenges faced by farmers. Safety training for agricultural machinery, the public payment system, apple canker removal methods, and fire blight prevention education were also conducted. Attendance reached 662, which is 348% of the planned 190 participants, showing an impressive turnout.

Lee Byung-hwan, the mayor of Seongju-gun, expressed strong determination, saying, “Through this education, farmers will learn high-quality cultivation techniques by crop, which will provide practical help in farming. We also provided education on pest and disease control technologies that have recently become problematic. We will actively support customized strategies and the great transformation of Seongju melon agriculture, hoping this will be the first year to open an era of 700 billion KRW melon income and 1 trillion KRW agricultural income. We aim to create the nation’s richest rural area leading the future.”

Do Hee-jae, chairman of the Seongju-gun Council, stated, “Farmers are leading voluntary change and innovation for the great transformation of Seongju melons, and the council will actively cooperate and support this. This year as well, we will continue to be a council that communicates and acts with the residents.”
