Warm Birthday Sharing Practiced by Ven. Beopdeung of Woongsan for 13 Years Since 2013
On the 16th, Kim Jang-ho, Mayor of Gumi City, Gyeongbuk, visited the Geumo Comprehensive Social Welfare Center Senior Dining Hall to volunteer in serving meals to over 200 elderly citizens and exchanged New Year greetings and well wishes.

Also attending the event were Kim Dong-wook, Chief of Gumi Police Station, Yoon Sang-hoon, Chairman of the Facility Management Committee, as well as provincial and city council members.
The attendees served the elderly with carefully prepared dishes such as glutinous rice, beef seaweed soup, yellow croaker, and beef bulgogi, and handed out snack packages containing bananas, tangerines, and acorn rice cakes. Notably, this event was made more meaningful by Ven. Beopdeung of Woongsan, who celebrated his birthday by donating 3 million won to practice sharing.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “I congratulate Ven. Beopdeung of Woongsan on his birthday and thank him for practicing warm sharing every year. I wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year.”
Meanwhile, Ven. Beopdeung of Woongsan served as the head monk of Dorisa Temple, a temple supported by the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism Social Welfare Foundation, and dedicated 25 years as director of the Geumo Comprehensive Social Welfare Center before retiring. Since then, he has been active as the head of the Compassion Sharing Energy Bank and as a member of the Geumo Comprehensive Social Welfare Center’s management committee, practicing sharing through birthday charity events for 13 years since 2013.
