Professor Kim Young-hoon of Gyeongnam National University Awarded Commendation by Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy

Recognized for Contributions to Revitalizing
Industry-specific Human Resource Development Councils

Professor Kim Young-hoon of the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Systems Engineering at Gyeongnam National University (Dean of the Graduate School of Industrial Management) recently received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy in recognition of his contributions to revitalizing the industry-specific human resource development councils operated by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

Since 2004, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has been operating industry-specific human resource development councils (SC) that systematically plan, manage, and operate the training of technical personnel by industry at the private sector level.


Professor Kim has been overseeing workforce development projects in the shipbuilding and marine sectors, including training and curriculum development, since 2005, when the shipbuilding and marine industry human resource development council was first established. He served as the Director of the Shipbuilding Human Resources Development Center at the Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Plant Association.


He also serves as the chairman of the shipbuilding and marine industry human resource development council operated by the Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Plant Association, actively performing roles such as workforce training for stable supply of industrial technical personnel, planning and developing new curricula, and providing consultation in the shipbuilding and marine sectors.


Professor Kim stated, “Going forward, in connection with the shipbuilding industry cluster established in the Gyeongnam region, we will continue our efforts to promote mutual growth between Gyeongnam National University and the local shipbuilding industry, and further sustain activities for training technical personnel in the shipbuilding and marine industries.”
