Communicating with Jigok-myeon Residents
at the Jigok-myeon Administrative Welfare Center on the 16th
Lee Wan-seop, Mayor of Seosan City in South Chungcheong Province, announced that he would prioritize and implement small-scale projects aimed at alleviating everyday inconveniences that have a significant impact on citizens' daily lives.
On the morning of the 16th, during a New Year's "Dialogue with Citizens" held at the Jigok-myeon Administrative Welfare Center with about 100 residents of Jigok-myeon in attendance, Mayor Lee once again emphasized the importance of resolving inconveniences in citizens' daily lives.
On this day, the residents asked Mayor Lee about the progress of major projects to be carried out in Jigok-myeon, such as the Chungnam Free Economic Zone (Jigok District), the creation of the Seosan Creative Art Village, and the establishment of a park golf course in northern Seosan.
Additionally, they proposed projects to resolve everyday inconveniences, including expanding bus stops for commuting students, extending the urban gas supply area, installing safety guide lights for operations in Doseong-ri, and widening and paving rural roads.
Mayor Lee provided detailed answers to the residents' questions and stated, "Along with laying the foundation for securing future growth engines for our city, resolving everyday inconveniences is our top priority to improve the quality of life for our citizens," which was met with a positive response.
So far, the city has promoted a variety of projects to improve citizens' lives, such as expanding the supply of urban gas, installing more diagonal crosswalks, adding red countdown timers to pedestrian signals, repairing street and security lights, and installing brine spraying devices.
In particular, to address inconveniences closely related to citizens' daily lives, the city implemented over 370 small-scale projects last year, including village road repairs, drainage maintenance, and safety facility repairs.
This year, the city plans to spend a total budget of 900 million KRW to improve convenience in citizens' daily lives by maintaining areas around farmland, carrying out emergency repairs on facilities at risk of safety accidents, and paving small roads.
For small-scale projects addressing everyday inconveniences, the budget per project is around 5 million KRW. The city plans to actively identify and promptly address issues related to citizens' daily lives.
Mayor Lee Wan-seop said, "We are doing our utmost to immediately address all kinds of complaints about everyday inconveniences, such as maintaining drainage channels at risk of flooding, removing trees at risk of falling, and repairing damaged drainage systems during the rainy season," and added, "We will do our best to enhance the quality of administrative services that citizens can truly feel through the prompt resolution of daily inconveniences."
Meanwhile, on this day, residents of Jigok-myeon further energized the discussion by raising questions about key issues such as the progress of the new government building construction, the blueprint for the (tentative name) Culture and Arts Town, support for culture and arts including creative arts allowances, and veterans' allowances.
