Gwangju Nam-gu (District Mayor Kim Byungnae) announced that, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, it will implement comprehensive measures focused on stabilizing prices of high-demand goods, managing disaster situations, and more.
According to Nam-gu on the 16th, the comprehensive plan for the Lunar New Year holiday will focus on three main areas: stabilizing residents' livelihoods, emergency medical care and infectious disease prevention, and price stabilization.
With the domestic market stagnant and prices showing signs of rising ahead of the holiday, price stabilization is being prioritized, and support for vulnerable groups and families in crisis will also be strengthened.
Nam-gu will manage the prices of high-demand goods commonly used during the Lunar New Year period.
The district will regularly monitor the supply and price trends of 16 agricultural, marine, and livestock products, 14 daily necessities, and 2 personal service items, and will intensively crack down on unfair trade practices and excessive price hikes in personal services.
In addition, to maintain a sound distribution order, Nam-gu will inspect the labeling of the origin of agricultural, marine, and livestock products.
Nam-gu will also focus on supporting families in crisis and residents in vulnerable care situations, ensuring that neighbors facing difficulties can spend the holiday safely and stably.
Since the 2nd, residents active in local community welfare councils and as welfare coordinators have been searching the district to identify families in crisis, and emergency living expenses, housing costs, and medical expenses will be provided to neighbors in need due to reasons such as unemployment or illness.
Furthermore, relief supplies and alternative food will be provided to 5,091 seniors living alone or at risk of missing meals, and lunch boxes and alternative food for six days will be provided to children from low-income families.
From the 25th to the 30th, a comprehensive disaster response center will be set up at the district office to focus on managing natural disasters, transportation, medical care, environmental, and sanitation situations.
A Nam-gu official stated, "We will do our utmost to implement comprehensive measures so that all 220,000 residents, as well as those returning to their hometowns, can enjoy a comfortable and happy Lunar New Year."
