A fire broke out around 12:50 PM on the 15th at a detached house in Geumseong-myeon, Hadong-gun, Gyeongnam.
According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, a man in his 70s, Mr. A, who lived in the house, was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest with third-degree burns but ultimately passed away.
A woman in her 70s, Ms. B, suffered first- to second-degree burns and was also transported, but her life is not believed to be in danger.
The fire was completely extinguished by the responding firefighters around 2:29 PM.
The fire authorities are investigating the exact cause and extent of the damage based on Ms. B’s statement that she discovered the fire and tried to extinguish it with her husband but fled as the flames grew intense.
