Eagle-Eyed Gimcheon City Integrated Control Center Plays a Vital Role as Safety Guardian

Contributed to the Arrest of Three Drunk Drivers Within a Month

The Integrated Control Center of Gimcheon-si, Gyeongbuk is making efforts to create a safe Gimcheon and ensure the safety of its citizens.

The Gimcheon-si Integrated Control Center plays a crucial role as a guardian of citizen safety by contributing to the on-site arrest of drunk drivers in cooperation with the police through real-time monitoring.

On December 26 last year, control personnel discovered an intoxicated person starting to drive a vehicle in a park located in Yanggeum-dong and reported it to 112, enabling an early arrest. On the 12th of this month, they reported suspicious vehicle movements on the road in Daesin-dong, assisting in the arrest of a drunk driver.

Furthermore, on the 13th, they spotted an intoxicated person boarding a vehicle near Jasan-dong and provided information on the travel route and final destination, greatly contributing to the arrest of an unlicensed drunk driver. The blood alcohol concentration of all arrested drivers was confirmed to be at levels warranting license cancellation.

Meanwhile, the Gimcheon-si Integrated Control Center established an AI-based smart control system last year that can detect various events such as loitering, dumping, fire, and intrusion through real-time video analysis of approximately 2,600 CCTVs.

In addition, to protect the safety and property of citizens, about 2,600 CCTVs are monitored in real-time 24 hours a day, and this year, with a project budget of 400 million KRW, 70 additional security CCTVs will be installed and replaced.

Jeon Mi-kyung, Director of the Information Planning Division of Gimcheon-si, said, “Along with continuous expansion of the security network, we will create a safer living environment where Gimcheon citizens can feel more secure than now through precise monitoring of the operating CCTVs.”
