Gwangjin-gu Creates 6,318 Jobs in 2024... Achieves 105% Target

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) successfully fulfilled its pledge by exceeding the job creation target for 2024.

Gwangjin-gu aimed to create 6,000 public jobs annually and achieve 66,500 insured employees under employment insurance in the economic revitalization sector.

To this end, the district established five core strategies: ▲regional development and infrastructure creation ▲direct job creation ▲(foundation) reemployment support ▲youth policies ▲support for startup companies and small business owners, and promoted 137 projects across 26 departments to create direct jobs.

A total of 6,318 direct jobs were provided through programs such as ‘Gwangjin Happy Jobs’, ‘Gwangjin Youth Jobs’, and ‘Senior and Disabled Jobs’, achieving 105.3% of the target.

In addition to direct job creation, the district supported residents’ job-seeking activities by implementing employment support programs such as the customized job consulting service ‘Visiting Job Center’, practical ‘Employment Competency Enhancement Training’, and ‘Job Fairs’ held in cooperation with related organizations.

Furthermore, programs such as the ‘50+ Counseling Center’ and ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution Education’ were operated to support reemployment and social participation of the middle-aged population.

As a result, as of the end of November 2024, the number of insured employees under employment insurance reached 66,942, achieving the expected target ahead of schedule.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, “Having stable employment is a very important part of our lives,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to create an environment where every resident can fully demonstrate their abilities through various policies.”
