"Need to Identify Designated Donation Projects
and Strengthen the Competitiveness of Return Gifts"
Lee Jiwon is delivering a five-minute speech at the 2nd plenary session of the 275th extraordinary meeting held on the 15th.
Lee Jiwon, a member of the Cheonan City Council in Chungnam, stated on the 15th, "We need to establish measures to revitalize the Hometown Love Donation Program."
During a five-minute speech at the 2nd plenary session of the 275th extraordinary meeting held that day, Councilor Lee proposed the introduction of designated donations and strengthening the competitiveness of return gifts.
She pointed out, "Last year, the total amount of donations was 253 million won, which is a modest result considering the size of the city," and insisted, "We need to devise revitalization measures for the sake of resident welfare projects and city promotion."
She added, "Just as in the case of the specialized market reconstruction project in Seocheon-gun, Chungnam, or the pediatric clinic establishment project in Gokseong-gun, Jeonnam, it is necessary to consider introducing a designated donation system that allows donors to directly select projects they wish to support," emphasizing, "We must quickly identify designated donation projects linked to the Hometown Love Donation Program."
Regarding return gifts, she said, "Recently, donation amounts in Daejeon City increased significantly, and more than half of the donors chose the Sung Sim Dang bread gift certificate as their return gift," adding, "If we include regional attraction gift certificates or tourism vouchers in addition to local specialties, it could create a virtuous cycle where donors visit Cheonan directly."
