On the 15th, Gwangju Mayor Kang Gijung emphasized at the New Year's meeting of the Jisan-Hakyeon Council, attended by representatives from local businesses, universities, and research institutes, "Many people are experiencing difficulties due to complex political and economic uncertainties, but let us turn this confusion into an opportunity," adding, "It is time for everyone in the region to unite for a stronger democracy and a warmer livelihood economy."


The event, held at Gwangju Technopark, was attended by over 200 people, including Mayor Kang, Gwangju City Council members, representatives from more than 60 companies, and over 20 research and support institutions such as the Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation and the Gwangju Economic Promotion and Win-Win Job Foundation.


Mayor Kang stated, "We are facing both confusion and opportunity," and continued, "To turn confusion into opportunity, Gwangju City has begun preparations to draw a blueprint for regional development, and Jisan-Hakyeon must join forces to open a new path together."


He also urged everyone to join efforts to overcome the economic crisis and revive the livelihood economy. Mayor Kang said, "We will break through the difficulties of the livelihood economy through expansionary fiscal policies and stimulating consumption for self-employed and small business owners," and added, "Jisan-Hakyeon should devise concrete strategies for Gwangju's future industries that align with global trends such as artificial intelligence, future vehicles, and energy. Please join hands for regional industrial innovation, business success, and further, the development of the regional economy."


The Jisan-Hakyeon Council is a governance council composed of opinion leaders such as major companies in Gwangju, research and support institutions, and representatives of industry-specific councils. It serves as a control tower for revitalizing the regional industrial ecosystem, fostering small and medium-sized enterprises, and discussing policies related to regional industry and SME development.
