In particular, they highlighted the 'long-term settlement type study-abroad program,' which encourages entire families to relocate to Jeonnam and reside there for more than three years, aiming to boost the local population.
The Office of Education also provides a range of benefits, such as support for housing and study-abroad expenses, through return-to-farming and return-to-village projects in collaboration with the Jeonnam Provincial Government and city and county offices, so that parents can feel at ease. Currently, rural schools in Jeonnam offer programs such as traditional culture experiences, history education, and community engagement with local residents.
Jung Byungguk, Director of Educational Autonomy, stated, "The Rural Boarding School Program is a key policy to revitalize small schools in Jeonnam and overcome the crisis of regional extinction," adding, "We will continue to actively support the program to ensure its success."
