Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, visited the site of the ‘Sungmoon Alumni Night’ event held at Seoul Garden Hotel on the afternoon of the 14th.
About 360 members of the Sungmoon Middle and High School Alumni Association attended the event, which was held in two parts: the first part was the regular general meeting, followed by the second part, Sungmoon Alumni Night.
The event included an explanation session of a commemorative work honoring the pride of Sungmoon Middle and High School and the late Seo Yun-bok, the winner of the 51st Boston Marathon, a cake-cutting ceremony, and congratulatory performances.
On this day, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, said in his greeting, “I sincerely congratulate the Sungmoon Middle and High School Alumni Association on holding the ‘Sungmoon Alumni Night.’”
He continued, “Many Sungmoon alumni are active in Mapo District and contribute to the development of Mapo,” adding, “Mapo District will continue to do its best to ensure that Sungmoon alumni can take pride and actively contribute to their school and local community.”
Last year, Mapo District established an honorary road about 1.1 km long between Ewha Womans University Station and Daehyeong Station to honor the late Seo Yun-bok, and renamed the Ewha Green Rest Area as the Seo Yun-bok Rest Area, allowing numerous visitors to share in the glory of the Boston Marathon.
