Ministry of Employment and Labor Yangsan Branch, Local Related Organizations Gathered... Discussing Public Livelihood Stability

The Yangsan Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (Branch Chief Kwon Gu-hyung) held a joint inspection meeting with related organizations on the 15th to assess the local employment situation and discuss measures to support people's livelihoods.

As of November last year, the number of workplaces and employed persons under the jurisdiction of the Yangsan Branch (Yangsan, Gimhae, Miryang) increased by 5.4% and 2.4%, respectively, compared to the same month of the previous year, indicating that the employment situation generally maintained a stable trend. However, this year, with the expansion of domestic and international uncertainties and increased downside risks to the economy, there are concerns that employment instability and difficulties in people's livelihoods may worsen.

To quickly grasp and proactively respond to these uncertain circumstances at the regional level, the Yangsan Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor has formed a ‘Regional Employment Situation Inspection and Livelihood Support TF’ since last December, conducting field activities targeting vulnerable workplaces such as small business owners and small-scale manufacturers.

The meeting was attended by heads of livelihood economy departments from the three local governments of Gimhae, Yangsan, and Miryang, vice presidents of local chambers of commerce, the head of the Small Enterprise and Market Service Yangsan Center, the president of the Yangsan Small Business Association, the president of the Gimhae Women Entrepreneurs Association, and the chairman of the Eogok Industrial Complex Management Corporation, among other business representatives, who shared each institution’s livelihood support projects and cooperation plans.

The attendees reviewed the current regional employment trends and the situation of small business owners, discussed cooperation measures for livelihood recovery, and particularly deliberated on guidance to prevent wage arrears ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, livelihood stabilization measures for low-income workers, and support plans for youth and labor-vulnerable groups.

Based on the discussions at this joint inspection meeting, the Yangsan Branch plans to promptly establish and implement additional projects aimed at job creation and livelihood stabilization.

Branch Chief Kwon Gu-hyung stated, “We will closely cooperate with related local organizations to respond swiftly to the regional employment situation for employment and livelihood stabilization,” adding, “We will also continue on-site activities for workplaces facing employment crises and vulnerable groups.”
