Buk-gu, Gwangju is implementing policies to address population decline.
According to Buk-gu on the 15th, in order to resolve the population decrease caused by the outflow of young people and low birth rates, the district will introduce new youth support measures such as the 'Youth Startup Rent Support Project', and strengthen population education by life cycle and a public-private cooperation network to respond to low birth rates.
As a youth support policy, Buk-gu will provide rent support to young entrepreneurs operating startups in the district, helping them reduce the burden of rent and run their businesses stably. The support is targeted at around 30 young entrepreneurs aged 19 to 39, who have both their resident registration address and business location in Buk-gu and have been in business for less than three years. The actual rent for business premises will be subsidized up to 200,000 KRW per month for four months.
In addition, Buk-gu will support software purchase costs for young people. The software purchase support project will provide up to 50,000 KRW for the purchase or subscription of frequently used software such as MS Office, Hancom Office, and Adobe to young residents of Buk-gu aged 19 to 39. This project is expected to be implemented in the first half of this year.
Furthermore, customized population education by life cycle will be provided for children, adolescents, parents, and couples, and a population and low birth rate relay campaign will be promoted to foster the formation of healthy family communities in the region and spread the establishment of proper values.
To respond to low birth rates, Buk-gu plans to strengthen the public-private cooperation network composed of experts in fields such as healthcare, childcare, women, and education, in order to gather diverse opinions from the local community and reflect them in policies. This will also accelerate the discovery of new projects and the promotion of inter-institutional collaboration.
For couples who have not been able to hold a wedding ceremony due to financial difficulties, Buk-gu will promote the 'Uriduri Small Wedding' project, which supports all aspects of the ceremony, including wedding attire rental, makeup, photography, and album production, to foster a marriage-friendly culture.
Mayor Moon In said, "We will continue to make all-out efforts to enhance regional competitiveness by creating quality jobs, improving residential conditions, and establishing an environment conducive to raising children, in order to overcome the population decline."
