Gwangju City Provides Emergency Heating Cost Support of 50,000 Won to Safety-Vulnerable Households

Targeting 7,087 Basic Livelihood Security and Near-Poverty Households
Payments Completed for 4,836 Households Already Receiving Welfare Benefits

Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 15th that it has urgently provided 350 million KRW from provincial funds to support heating costs for safety-vulnerable groups struggling due to the winter cold wave.

The emergency heating cost support targets 7,087 households classified as basic livelihood security recipients (living, medical, housing, education) and near-poverty groups as of the 3rd of this month, with a support amount of 50,000 KRW per household (one-time).

Households already receiving cash welfare benefits can receive the support directly into their welfare benefit accounts without a separate application, and the city has promptly completed payments to 4,836 households on the same day.

For households without registered accounts, applications will be accepted at each administrative welfare center, and heating costs will be paid promptly before the Lunar New Year holiday.

Applications can be made by visiting the administrative welfare center in charge of the applicant’s address with an ID and a copy of the bankbook or by phone until the 23rd.

Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “We hope that the heating cost support will help safety-vulnerable households facing difficulties due to the winter cold wave and rising prices.”
