Kim Seong-geun, Chairman of Silla University ESG Management Research Institute, Leads Efforts to Revitalize Citizen Movement
Level 1 Instructor Qualification Course to Be Held on February 7-8 at Silla University Business Building Room 312
The ESG Citizens' Movement Headquarters (Chairman Kim Seong-geun, Professor of Business Administration at Silla University) has launched a program to train professional instructors specializing in ESG citizen movement projects.
The headquarters announced on the 15th that it will recruit 50 students for the Level 1 Professional Instructor Qualification Course in ESG Citizen Movement, scheduled for February 7-8.
Chairman Kim Seong-geun founded the Silla University ESG Management Research Institute in 2023, conducted research projects for the Busan City Council, and through various training and special lecture programs, has grown it into a specialized institution in the ESG field.
In 2023, the Silla University ESG Management Research Institute was commissioned by the Busan City Council to conduct a policy research project titled "The Necessity and Expansion Plan of ESG Citizen Movement in Busan Metropolitan City," and subsequently achieved the milestone of enacting the nation's first "ESG Citizen Movement Support Ordinance."
The institute supported local youth employment activities by conducting ESG special lectures and practical ESG interviews through the ESG Management Academy for youth in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions, issuing certificates upon completion.
Additionally, it developed the "ESG Cheokcheok Doctor" program for elementary, middle, and high school students, providing special lectures and issuing certificates to help strengthen career competencies and resume development.
At the ESG Conference held at the National Assembly on December 1, 2023, Chairman Kim Seong-geun delivered a keynote speech titled "ESG Citizen Movement, the Last Prescription to Save the Earth," emphasizing that even if government and corporate ESG management efforts succeed 100%, without citizen participation, it would only be half a success, highlighting the importance of the ESG citizen movement.
To expand the ESG citizen movement nationwide, the Silla University ESG Management Research Institute obtained approval from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in September 2024 to establish the incorporated association ESG Citizens' Movement Headquarters, launched a website, and later received designation as a public interest corporation from the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
This ESG Citizen Movement Professional Instructor Training Course includes programs such as △ ESG Citizen Movement Special Lectures, △ Discussions on ESG Citizen Movement Development Directions, △ Domestic and International ESG Management Cases, △ Key Contents of ESG Citizen Movement Policy Research Projects, △ SME ESG Management Preparation Strategies and Effective Responses to ESG Supply Chain Due Diligence, △ Carbon Neutrality and Climate Crisis, △ Major Domestic and International ESG Management Trends, △ Understanding the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, △ Recycling Separation A to Z, and △ ESG Cheokcheok Doctor.
Those who obtain the ESG Citizen Movement Professional Instructor Certificate will be appointed as professional instructors and can participate in education at local governments, institutions, organizations, companies, and other venues. Applications can be submitted via the website or by phone until the 31st. The tuition and textbook fees amount to approximately 320,000 KRW.
The ESG Citizens' Movement Headquarters plans to promote ESG citizen movement special lectures for all sectors, ESG Cheokcheok Doctor education for elementary, middle, and high school students, regional youth ESG management academies, bans on single-use products in local governments and public institutions, presentations on excellent and defective ESG practice products, festivals without single-use products, bans on broadcasting scenes of single-use product usage on TV and video media, and the use of six-compartment trays at funeral halls.
Chairman Kim Seong-geun stated, "We will devote our efforts to spreading the ESG citizen movement, which started in Busan, nationwide."
