Damyang County, Jeonnam (Governor Lee Byeongno) announced on the 15th that it will promote plans to revitalize the operation of the Agricultural Machinery Rental Center in order to reduce production costs and supplement the income of farmers who are struggling due to abnormal weather conditions and rising agricultural input prices.

The county will extend the agricultural machinery rental fee reduction policy, which has been in effect since April 2020, until the end of December this year, offering a 50% discount on rental fees for agricultural machinery. Last year, this 50% reduction in rental fees resulted in savings of over 100 million won in management costs for farmers, providing significant assistance to small-scale farmers.

Additionally, the county will invest 400 million won to purchase 46 units of 26 types of agricultural machinery, including tractors, to replace old equipment and to further expand the inventory at the Western Branch, which opened in April last year, ensuring smooth rental operations.

Furthermore, the county will provide safety education twice a year for members of the Agricultural Machinery Rental Center during the agricultural off-season and partially subsidize the cost of obtaining licenses for small construction machinery (such as agricultural excavators and forklifts) and drone certifications. The county will also continue to provide capacity-building training for agricultural machinery safety specialists within the Agricultural Machinery Support Team to foster professional talent.

The county will operate a mobile agricultural machinery repair service team twice a year for remote villages, offering on-site malfunction diagnosis and inspection support, safety education to prevent agricultural machinery accidents, and actively promoting the operation of the Agricultural Machinery Rental Center.

A county official stated, "We will actively operate agricultural machinery rental services that farmers can truly benefit from, such as on-site rental services for those in need of agricultural machinery and farming support for small-scale and elderly farmers, in order to increase satisfaction among agricultural workers."
