Suwon City to Hold 'Great Public Economy Recovery Debate' on the 20th

The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will hold a grand forum on the recovery of the people's economy.

On the 15th, Suwon City announced that on the 20th, Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon, along with small business owners, entrepreneurs, public officials, city council members, and journalists, will gather in the city hall's main conference room to seek ways to restore the people's economy, which is currently in crisis.

The theme of this forum is "Trends in the People's Economy and the Role of Local Governments."

Mayor Lee Jae-jun will preside over the event, with keynote speakers including Choi Jong-jin, Director of Suwon City's Economic Policy Bureau (Policy Responses of Suwon City for the Recovery of the People's Economy), and Joo Han-seo, Head of the Business Division at the Gyeonggi-do Market and Commercial Promotion Agency (Policy Proposals for the Recovery of the People's Economy).

Previously, on December 12 of last year, Mayor Lee Jae-jun presided over an "Emergency People's Economy Countermeasure Meeting" involving small and medium-sized enterprises and local commercial districts to discuss ways to overcome the crisis in the people's economy.

Following this, on December 18, Mayor Lee held a "Special Economic Measures Briefing" and announced measures including ▲expansion of incentives for Suwon Pay ▲increased budget allocation for local jobs ▲strengthened support for SME loan interest ▲enhanced support for vulnerable groups.

As a follow-up to the emergency countermeasure meeting, Suwon City will focus on discussing tangible recovery measures for the people's economy at today's "Great Transformation Forum for the Crisis in the People's Economy."

Mayor Lee Jae-jun stated, "Consumer sentiment has contracted, causing difficulties for neighborhood commercial districts, and the soaring exchange rate is causing pain for companies importing raw materials. We will listen to various opinions at this forum and develop policies for the recovery of the people's economy that citizens can truly feel."
