"‘Biden Reversal’ Trump to Unleash Flood of ‘Energy Dominance’ Executive Orders on First Day in Office"

President-elect Donald Trump is expected to issue a series of so-called 'energy dominance' executive orders promoting the use of fossil fuels starting from his inauguration day on the 20th (local time). Most of these orders focus on reversing the clean energy policies of the previous Biden administration, including lifting drilling restrictions, easing emissions regulations, and scrapping the transition to electric vehicles.

"‘Biden Reversal’ Trump to Unleash Flood of ‘Energy Dominance’ Executive Orders on First Day in Office"

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 14th that Trump will sign dozens of executive orders on his first day in office.

Having pledged to make the U.S. energy dominant again, he plans to repeal the Biden administration's measures that banned new drilling off the East and West Coasts and in the Gulf of Mexico. He will also ease emissions regulations and resume approvals for U.S. natural gas export facilities. All of these actions promote the use of fossil fuels.

Alongside this, Trump will establish a National Energy Council responsible for policies related to U.S. oil, natural gas, and electricity. The Republican Party, which holds the majority in both the House and Senate, is also expected to pursue related legislation in line with Trump’s energy priorities.

Trump’s spokesperson, Caroline Leavitt, emphasized, "We will exercise executive power from day one to fulfill campaign promises" and stressed, "We will make America energy dominant again."

In particular, Trump has also targeted electric vehicles. He has openly criticized various Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations that effectively mandate the transition to electric vehicles, calling them "the death of the American auto industry." Additionally, as in his first term, he is expected to immediately withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement, which President Biden rejoined in 2021.

WSJ reported, "Returning to the White House with the message of energy dominance, Trump will direct major changes at the EPA, Department of Energy, and Department of the Interior," adding that some of these changes could lead to legal battles.
