Pulmuone's '1400-Degree Direct Flame Grilled Fish' Sells 1 Million Units in One Year

Pulmuone Foods announced on the 15th that its ‘1400-Degree Direct Flame Grilled Fish,’ the first product introduced in the seafood ready-to-eat (HMR) market, has surpassed cumulative sales of 1 million units within one year of its launch.

Launched in October 2023, the 1400-Degree Direct Flame Grilled Fish was differentiated by carefully selecting only fish weighing over 100g, considering that larger fish have higher fat content, making them moist and tender. Additionally, the fish is directly flame-grilled at a high temperature of 1400 degrees Celsius to achieve a crispy surface while enhancing flavor and umami. In June last year, a patented technology from the National Institute of Fisheries Science was applied to remove fishy odors.

The 1400-Degree Direct Flame Grilled Fish showed a steep growth trend, with sales in the fourth quarter of 2024 increasing by 126% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, right after its launch.

Since May last year, overseas expansion has also begun. Developed separately as frozen ready-to-eat products for export, it was introduced in Asian markets in regions with active demand such as Los Angeles and New York in the United States, and the number of sales locations has been continuously expanded. As a result, export volume more than doubled in December compared to the start of exports in May.

Pulmuone plans to expand its product lineup by releasing new grilled fish products with a variety of fish species, as well as seasoned grilled and braised new products, following the initial four types introduced at the launch of the 1400-Degree Direct Flame Grilled Fish (mackerel, boneless mackerel, cutlassfish, and flatfish).
