Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) will implement various policies in 2025 to improve the quality of life for residents and advance into a better city.
This year, 42 projects across five major areas?▲Education & Culture ▲Economy & Living ▲Safety & Environment ▲Welfare & Health ▲Administration & Cooperation?have been expanded or newly established.
First, in the ▲Education & Culture sector, various policies have been prepared to support residents' learning and cultural activities. The ‘Junghwa Literature Library,’ Jungnang-gu’s first literature-specialized library, opened in the Junghwa 2-dong complex building, providing a space centered on literature for reading culture and communication.
Additionally, the district’s second education support center opened in Myeonmok-dong and plans to operate specialized educational programs focusing on basic science fields.
Along with this, the Bonghwasan Onggi Kiln Experience Center and the Yongma Waterfall Park Forest Library have been established, offering residents new spaces to enjoy reading and leisure.
In the Economy & Living sector, policies aimed at stabilizing daily life and revitalizing the local economy are being promoted. First, the Jungnang-gu living wage has been raised to 11,779 KRW per hour to ensure workers’ livelihood stability. The sports class voucher support for low-income infants and youth has also increased from 100,000 KRW to 105,000 KRW. This aims to open various cultural opportunities to vulnerable groups with limited access to cultural enjoyment and improve their quality of life. Additionally, a terrace-style observatory caf? will be built along the Mukdongcheon waterfront, providing culture and relaxation to residents and visitors of Jungnangcheon.
In the Safety & Environment sector, changes to guarantee residents’ safety and create a pleasant living environment are notable. Insurance for electric mobility aids will be newly implemented to support safe mobility for the disabled and elderly, and a bicycle traffic safety experience center will operate, offering safety education and bicycle practice opportunities for all age groups.
Moreover, the no-alcohol and no-smoking zones in Myeonmok Station Plaza will be expanded, and fines will be strictly enforced starting in 2025.
In the Welfare & Health sector, tailored support to meet diverse welfare needs of residents will be expanded. The meal allowance for low-income children has been raised to 9,500 KRW per meal, and the eligibility for childcare service support has been expanded to households earning up to 200% of the median income, allowing more families to benefit.
Furthermore, a pre-pregnancy health management project has started to support health checkup costs for men and women of childbearing age, aiming to prevent infertility and create a healthy childbirth environment.
Notably, from this year, Jungnang-gu’s unique welfare brand, the ‘Jungnang Donghaeng Sarangnet’ online platform, has been newly launched to accelerate the culture of sharing where 400,000 residents help each other.
Finally, in the Administration & Cooperation sector, new facilities and policies have been introduced to provide more convenient administrative services to residents. The Junghwa 2-dong complex building has been renovated to offer more comfortable administrative and welfare services to residents.
In addition, the Mangwoo Cultural Yard (Emotional Rest Area), a multipurpose resting space within Mangwoo History and Culture Park, and the Jungnang Happiness 6 Farm, where various urban farming experiences can be enjoyed, will be newly established.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “In 2025, Jungnang-gu has prepared changes that residents can feel across all sectors including education, economy, safety, welfare, and administration,” adding, “We will continue to communicate with residents and do our best to create a better Jungnang-gu.”
