Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon expressed support for the courage of the National Human Rights Commission staff who blocked the agenda item titled ‘Recommendation on Measures to Overcome the National Crisis Caused by the Declaration of Martial Law.’ He also called for the immediate resignation of Human Rights Commissioner Kim Yong-won.
On the 14th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, "I support the courageous actions of the Human Rights Commission staff who blocked the agenda item guaranteeing the ‘defense rights of the leader of the rebellion,’" and pressured, "Kim Yong-won, the ‘leader of the rebellion human rights commissioner’ who shamelessly made the outrageous remark ‘Why shouldn’t Yoon Seok-yeol’s human rights be protected?’ must resign immediately."
Earlier, National Human Rights Commission Chairman Ahn Chang-ho decided not to hold the plenary session scheduled for the afternoon of the 13th and to reschedule it for a later date.
The plenary session was supposed to include the agenda item titled ‘Recommendation on Measures to Overcome the National Crisis Caused by the Declaration of Martial Law.’ The agenda, led by Commissioner Kim Yong-won and co-sponsored by Commissioners Kang Jeong-hye, Kim Jong-min, Lee Han-byeol, and Han Seok-hoon, contained contents such as refraining from arresting or detaining President Yoon and suspending the Constitutional Court’s impeachment trial procedures.
