Seoul Milk, 'A2+ Milk' High-Quality Domestic Milk... Industry Leader

Marking its 88th anniversary this year, Seoul Milk Cooperative is accelerating its strategy to enhance quality through aggressive technological investments in order to proactively respond to the rapidly changing dairy industry market, including low birth rates, aging population, and market liberalization due to Free Trade Agreements (FTA). In fact, Seoul Milk completed the Yangju integrated plant, the largest comprehensive dairy processing factory in Asia, in 2022, and has begun full-scale production of high-quality milk by establishing an eco-friendly, high-efficiency smart system.

Building on this, Seoul Milk launched the next-generation premium milk, 'A2+ Milk,' in April last year. This is 100% domestically produced A2 milk separated and collected from A2-exclusive farms, using high-quality raw milk with somatic cell count grade 1 and bacterial count grade 1A. Four stages of A2 testing are conducted: farm milk collection vehicle, pre-pasteurization tank, post-pasteurization tank, and finished product. Additionally, the EFL method applied at the Yangju plant removes bacteria and microorganisms once more, further enhancing freshness.

Above all, since it contains only 100% A2 protein, it is a good option for people who usually experience digestive discomfort after consuming milk. In fact, at the 8th International Digestive Conference held in November last year, a clinical study titled ‘Clinical Study on the Increase of Intestinal Beneficial Bacteria by A2 Milk’ presented by Professor Kim Nayoung’s research team from the Department of Gastroenterology at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital showed that consuming A2 milk containing only A2-β-casein significantly increased Bifidobacterium, which has benefits for digestion and immune function enhancement, and Blautia, which has positive effects on gut health.

As a result, A2+ Milk gained great popularity among consumers as 'milk without stomachache,' which also translated into sales effects. A2+ Milk surpassed 22 million units in cumulative sales within five months of its launch, and as of December last year, cumulative sales exceeded 32 million units, showing steady growth. Seoul Milk plans to continuously expand the number of A2-exclusive farms, currently at 42, convert all products to A2 raw milk by 2030, and accelerate the development of various new products centered on A2 raw milk.
