Seosan City Accepts Early Payment Applications for Car Tax Until the 31st Promotional Material for Annual Prepayment Application of Automobile Tax in Seosan City, Chungnam. /Seosan City

Seosan City in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 14th that applications for the 2025 annual automobile tax prepayment will be accepted until the 31st.

The automobile tax prepayment system allows taxpayers to receive a discount on their annual automobile tax if they pay the full amount in advance, instead of paying it in two installments each year.

According to the city, applications for annual prepayment can be made in January, March, June, and September, but the highest discount rate of 4.57% is available only in January.

Applications can be submitted by visiting or calling the Taxation Division of Seosan City or local administrative welfare centers. Starting from the 16th, applications and payments can also be made online through Wetax.

The automobile tax can be paid at any ATM of financial institutions nationwide using a credit card, debit card, or bankbook, even without a tax bill.

In addition, payment can be made easily using a virtual account number, local tax payment account, Wetax, Internet Giro, or the local tax payment ARS system.

Meanwhile, for vehicle owners who have already made the annual prepayment, the new prepayment bill will be sent automatically without a separate application. However, for newly acquired vehicles, a separate application is required.

If the automobile tax is not paid within the prepayment period after applying, the tax discount benefit will be lost, and regular tax bills will be issued twice a year in June and December.

A Seosan City official said, "We hope that many residents will take advantage of the highest discount rate available through January prepayment," and added, "Since the Lunar New Year holiday will be longer this year, many payments may be concentrated on the 31st, so we kindly ask for early payments to ensure the stable operation of the payment system."
