The execution of the arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol by the police is expected as early as the 15th. Attention is drawn to the fact that Chief Presidential Secretary Jeong Jin-seok mentioned "D-Day will be the 15th," and that final consultations have been underway among the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (Gongsucheo), the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters (Guksubon) Emergency Martial Law Special Investigation Unit, and the Presidential Security Service officials.
The National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency is preparing a long-term arrest operation lasting up to 2 nights and 3 days by mobilizing 1,200 detectives in the metropolitan area. Gongsucheo is considering setting up tents in front of the presidential residence, and the police plan to deploy a large number of police buses in front of the residence. Initially considered options such as deploying special forces, armored vehicles, or helicopters were excluded due to the risk of armed conflict.

The police have already ordered the dispatch of detective mobile units and anti-corruption investigation teams to four metropolitan police agencies, including the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency, and Gyeonggi Northern Police Agency. Some detectives have been on standby in Seoul since today, and the National Investigation Headquarters held a second meeting of senior superintendents this morning following the one on the 10th to conduct final checks.
The police have adopted a 'soft and hard strategy.' Instead of deploying all personnel at once, they plan to gradually and stepwise deploy them, indicating leniency toward cooperating Presidential Security Service staff. At the same time, they plan to arrest Deputy Director Kim Seong-hoon, for whom an arrest warrant has already been issued, separating him from the security staff. Staff members who resist will be arrested individually and held separately at various police stations in Seoul.
On the 13th, Gongsucheo sent official letters to the Presidential Security Service and the Ministry of National Defense warning that obstruction of warrant execution could lead to criminal charges for special obstruction of official duties, civil liability for damages, and restrictions on receiving government employee pensions. Conversely, they promised no disadvantages for staff who refuse illegal orders.
Additionally, in preparation for the possibility that the president might lock the door in a private room of the residence or flee to a shelter, they plan to request cooperation from the Fire Agency based on Article 8, Paragraph 2 of the Administrative Procedures Act, which states that "if independent duty performance is difficult due to lack of equipment, administrative support may be requested from other administrative agencies."
President Yoon’s lawyer, Seok Dong-hyun, demanded that police officers participating in the warrant execution wear identification badges and reveal their faces, and requested a postponement of the arrest warrant execution to participate in the impeachment trial procedure. Chief Presidential Secretary Jeong Jin-seok appealed to the public this morning, saying, "Please guarantee the right to self-defense that any citizen of a free democratic republic can enjoy," and added, "Investigation at a third location or by visit is also possible."
