"Alley Restaurant Sales Drop by Half"
"Stop Worrying About Wildfires and Worry About Yourself"
"The U.S. Will Not Side With Yoon, Who Has Damaged Democracy"
President Yoon Suk-yeol posted a message expressing sympathy for the wildfires in the United States, while Park Ji-won, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, sharply criticized him, saying, "He is still trapped in the delusion that he is the president."
On the 13th, Park appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' and referred to President Yoon's message of sympathy for the LA wildfires. He said, "It seems he didn't drink last night because he woke up early," adding, "The delusion still continues. The presidential duties have been suspended, but he says, 'I am the president.'" He continued, "It is said that the sales of alley restaurants have dropped by more than half because of President Yoon," and criticized, "There is no need to worry about the wildfires in the U.S. I hope he worries about himself."
Regarding the opinion that "he might be emphasizing the Korea-U.S. alliance and asking the U.S. to help him return," Park said, "It should only be regarded as a mere thought," and pointed out, "The overall flow is not that." He added, "Jake Sullivan, the U.S. National Security Advisor, also firmly said that the martial law was wrong," explaining, "The U.S. will not hold the hand of Yoon Suk-yeol, who is destroying democracy. I am sure Trump would feel the same."
Earlier, on the 13th, President Yoon posted on his social media account, "The damage from the large wildfire in Los Angeles, U.S., is growing uncontrollably. Due to strong gusts of wind, firefighting efforts are difficult, and the damage continues to spread, which is very regrettable." He added, "I offer my condolences and sympathy to those who have suffered unexpected damage, and I send my heartfelt sympathy to the American people." Furthermore, he said, "The U.S. is a precious ally that held our hand during Korea's most difficult times, and LA is where the largest number of our overseas Koreans live worldwide." He requested, "If help is needed, I ask the government to provide support and do its best to prevent damage to the overseas Koreans. I sincerely hope the wildfire is extinguished quickly and the damage is restored."
Meanwhile, on the 13th, President Yoon's side filed a motion to disqualify Justice Jeong Gye-seon of the Constitutional Court, who is presiding over the impeachment trial, stating that it is difficult to expect a fair judgment. They also raised an objection to the Constitutional Court's decision to conclude the preparation for oral arguments on the 3rd and proceed with the formal oral arguments on the 14th, calling it unfair.
