Seoul City Announces 620 Million KRW 'Gender Equality' Project Contest

Support Expanded by 30% Compared to Last Year, Including Birth Encouragement Projects
Up to 30 Million KRW per Organization

Seoul City announced on the 14th that it will launch the 'Gender Equality Family Fund Contest' worth 620 million KRW this year. Non-profit organizations or non-profit corporations in Seoul that engage in activities aimed at spreading a culture of gender equality can apply for project funding, and after evaluation, up to 30 million KRW will be supported per organization.

Last year, Seoul City changed the fund's name from 'Gender Equality Fund' to 'Gender Equality Family Fund' and supported 24 projects ranging from creating a childbirth and child-rearing friendly environment to preventing digital sex crimes. As a result, a total of 17,857 people, including children, adolescents, and general citizens, participated in activities such as joint parenting by parents, and caregiving support for single-parent and multicultural families.

This year, the support scale increased by 30% compared to last year (477 million KRW). However, for organizations that received fund support last year but had poor evaluations, project and accounting consulting and monitoring will be strengthened, and organizations that continue to receive poor evaluations will be penalized. In addition, all organizations will be regularly inspected for project progress, subsidy execution status, and any fraudulent receipt.

Applications can be submitted through the Local Subsidy Management System by 6 p.m. on the 31st. A project briefing session will be held on the 21st for organizations that pre-register.

This contest is divided into designated contests (▲ spreading gender equality culture ▲ creating a city supporting childbirth, Seoul) and free contests. For the free contest, projects that contribute to protecting the safety of socially vulnerable groups in daily life, digital, and social relationship fields can be submitted. Last year, the Jium Psychological Support Education Association, Won-Eum Broadcasting Foundation, and the Presbyterian Church of Korea Siloam Welfare Association for the Visually Impaired were selected as outstanding organizations.

Kim Seon-sun, Director of the Seoul City Women and Family Office, said, "Facing various issues such as the low birthrate crisis and the surge in digital sex crimes, the need to foster a culture of gender equality through cooperation with private organizations equipped with expertise and capabilities is growing," urging interest and participation.
