Im Gwan-hyeok, former Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office (age 59, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 26), recently joined the law firm Haesong (representative lawyers Han Mu-geun and Choi Gyo-il) as a representative lawyer.
Attorney Im is from Nonsan, Chungnam, graduated from Daejeon Bomun High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Sociology, and passed the 36th Judicial Examination in 1994. After being appointed as a prosecutor at the Seoul District Prosecutors' Office, he served as a prosecutor at the Busan District Prosecutors' Office, Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office, and Suwon District Prosecutors' Office; head of the Gongju branch of the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office; chief prosecutor of the Special 2nd and 1st Divisions at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office; head of the Special Division at the Busan District Prosecutors' Office; prosecutor at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office and Gwangju High Prosecutors' Office; chief prosecutor of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office; chief prosecutor of the Daejeon High Prosecutors' Office; and chief prosecutor of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office.
In November 2019, he served as the head of the Sewol Ferry Disaster Special Investigation Unit. He was regarded as a 'special investigation expert' while investigating cases such as the STX Group's accounting fraud and lobbying scandal, and the Harvest acquisition case during the Lee Myung-bak administration.
