Leading the Creation of a Job Ecosystem for People with Disabilities through Goodwill Store Construction and the Disabled-Linked Employment System

Woori Financial Group Promotes Purchases from 'Standard Disabled Workplaces' for Gifts and Supplies

First, its affiliate Woori Bank purchased 40,000 sets of rice gift packages worth approximately 900 million KRW from a vocational rehabilitation facility for the disabled located in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, to promote business activation and support sales sites.

The rice gift packages will be distributed to branches nationwide by the 15th, and branch employees will inform customers that the products were made by the hands of people with disabilities.

Starting with these gift packages, Woori Financial plans to expand the range of items introduced under the linked employment system to include △ social contribution project supplies △ copy paper △ promotional materials △ coffee products, and other frequently used items in financial institutions. Additionally, it will promote the adoption of purchasing goods using the ‘Disabled-Linked Employment System’ across all affiliates.

The ‘Disabled-Linked Employment System’ is a system that exempts part of the employment levy by considering the employment of people with disabilities engaged in production activities at standard workplaces for the disabled as employment by the obligated employer. Businesses with 100 or more regular employees that pay employment levies can receive partial exemptions if they subcontract and purchase products from linked employment target workplaces for people with disabilities.

A representative of Woori Financial Group said, “Creating jobs for people with disabilities is not just about one individual’s employment but has great significance as it supports the livelihoods of their dependents. Woori Financial Group will continue to take an active interest and lead efforts in building jobs for people with disabilities.”

Meanwhile, Woori Financial Group is fostering various public interest projects in the medium to long term to build an ecosystem for jobs for people with disabilities. Notably, to establish an independent ecosystem for people with developmental disabilities, it has partnered with the Milal Welfare Foundation to invest 30 billion KRW over 10 years to build 100 ‘Goodwill Stores’ and create jobs for over 1,500 people with disabilities.
