Hwaseong City "30% Generous Discount When Paying with Local Currency During Lunar New Year Holiday"

Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province is offering up to a 30% discount benefit to users of the local currency 'Hwaseong Sarang Local Currency' during the Lunar New Year holiday to stimulate the sluggish consumption.

Hwaseong City announced on the 13th that it will operate the 'Lunar New Year Hope Hwaseong Local Currency Consumption Promotion Week' from the 20th to the 31st, providing a 20% cashback on payments of 30,000 KRW or more made with the local currency.

The Hope Hwaseong Local Currency incentive is 10% of the amount recharged annually, with a purchase limit of 700,000 KRW per person. Adding the 20% cashback, users can receive up to a 30% discount benefit. The cashback limit is up to 50,000 KRW per person.

The city also prepared a prize event to promote the use of local currency. Among users who pay 100,000 KRW or more with the local currency during January, 1,000 people will be selected by lottery to receive 30,000 KRW worth of local currency points.

Jung Myeong-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "The operation of this consumption promotion period is an extraordinary measure to recover the livelihood economy amid the prolonged economic downturn and recent heavy snow damage, which have made winter difficult for many citizens," adding, "It was prepared to ease the economic burden on citizens and support local small businesses."
