Industrial Robot Industry Files Anti-Dumping Complaints Against Chinese and Japanese Industrial Robots

"Domestic Robot Prices at Only 60% Level"

The domestic industrial robot industry has filed an anti-dumping complaint against industrial robots from Japan and China.

On the 13th, it was announced that five domestic industrial robot companies, including HD Hyundai Robotics, submitted an anti-dumping petition to the Trade Commission of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on the 10th regarding 4-axis or more vertical multi-joint industrial robots produced by Japanese and Chinese companies.

They claim that Japanese and Chinese companies are exporting robots at prices lower than the domestic distribution prices, causing damage. It is reported that Chinese industrial robots are priced at about 60% of domestic robot prices.

A representative from HD Hyundai Robotics stated, "Chinese companies, burdened with inventory due to a prolonged recession in their domestic market, appear to be engaging in dumping sales into the Korean market. Large-scale bids are expected in the automotive manufacturing sector in the first half of the year, and the low-price offensive from foreign companies is expected to intensify."

Meanwhile, the volume of imported industrial robots in the domestic market surged from 9,080 units in 2021 to a provisional 13,445 units last year. The market share of imported products also rose from 75% in 2021 to 81% in 2023.
