Gwangju Nam-gu (District Mayor Kim Byungnae) announced on the 13th that it will proceed with compensation procedures for residents living in military airport noise-affected areas to address noise damage.

According to the Military Noise Compensation Act, this round of compensation targets 160 households in designated noise-affected areas, including Seokjeong-dong and Hwajang-dong.

Residents eligible for compensation this year are those who had resident registration and actually lived in the area last year.

The amount of compensation varies depending on the aircraft noise evaluation grade (Type 1 to Type 3).

Households in Type 1 zones will receive 60,000 won per month, while those in Type 2 and Type 3 zones will receive 45,000 won and 30,000 won, respectively.

Applications for compensation will be accepted from the 14th until the 28th of next month. For residents’ convenience, applications can be submitted at the Daechon-dong Administrative Welfare Center or through the Government24 website.
