Accelerating the Realization of "Good City Seo-gu"
Gwangju Seo-gu recently completed an organizational restructuring that includes the establishment of the Life Government Bureau and the Integrated Care Bureau, and carried out regular personnel appointments in the first half of 2025.
According to Seo-gu on the 13th, the Life Government Bureau is composed of the Resident Autonomy Division, Park and Greenery Division, Happiness Education Division, and Civil Service Division, which are closely related to residents' daily lives.
In addition, through administrative services that residents can feel in their daily lives, such as BI (Brand Identity) specialized projects by neighborhood, the creation of Manbal-ro (Barefoot Road), and the operation of Sekundae (the largest university in the world, Seo-gu), the bureau plans to complete the model of Life Government.
Seo-gu has established the Integrated Care Bureau to build a more detailed integrated care network throughout the local community and to proactively respond to the implementation of the Integrated Care Support Act in 2026.
The Integrated Care Bureau consists of the Care Policy Division, Care Support Division, Low Birthrate and Aging Society Policy Division, and Disabled Hope Welfare Division, and plans to focus administrative efforts on building a smart care environment and housing welfare infrastructure.
Seo-gu, with the principle that "the best welfare for residents is jobs," has placed the Job Youth Support Division along with the Welfare Policy Division, Welfare Benefits Division, and Gender and Child Welfare Division under the Welfare and Job Bureau to carry out various job projects.
In addition, some division and team names have been changed to make the district administration direction more specific.
The Aging Society Policy Division, which focused on senior support policies, has been renamed the Low Birthrate and Aging Society Policy Division and included the Population and Birth Policy Team to seek solutions for overall population issues such as low birthrate and aging.
The Gender Equality Division has been renamed the Gender and Child Welfare Division, with the Child-Friendly Team and Child Protection Team assigned to strengthen policies and support for family communities.
The Welfare Cooperation Team within the Welfare Policy Division has been renamed the Good Companion Team to expand Seo-gu Honors and public-private cooperation projects, accelerating the realization of "Zero Welfare Gaps, a Happy Seo-gu All Year Round."
Along with this, reflecting the trends of the times, the Cleaning Administration Division has been renamed the Resource Circulation Division, and the Urban Regeneration Division has been renamed the Urban Space Division.
Kim Ikang, the district mayor, said, "With this year's organizational restructuring and the placement of personnel in the right places, we aim to create an atmosphere where employees can work creatively and further enhance the efficiency and professionalism of administration to carry out administration with the unique identity of 'Good City Seo-gu.'"
He added, "By sensitively responding to changes and environments of the times and through proactive administration, communicative administration, and field-centered administration, residents will enjoy small but certain happiness (So-hwak-haeng) in their daily lives, and we will expand this value through sharing and solidarity to complete 'Good City Seo-gu.'"
