A woman in her 30s was arrested on the spot by the police for setting fire to her own home after a drunken quarrel with her husband.

On the 13th, the Ansan Danwon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that they had apprehended and were investigating a woman in her 30s, identified as A, on suspicion of arson of an occupied building.

A is suspected of setting fire while intoxicated at around 1:16 a.m. that day in a five-story multi-family house located in Seonbu-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan City, where she resides. At the time, A was involved in a physical fight with her husband, B, who is in his 40s, inside their home on the second floor of the building, prompting police to arrive at the scene.

To mediate the fight, the police escorted B to the first floor of the building. Meanwhile, A, who was inside the house with their 4-year-old daughter C, reportedly set fire by lighting a towel on fire. B and the police confirmed the fire and used tools to open the locked door, evacuating A and C.

The fire department, which responded to the fire report, completely extinguished the fire at around 2:29 a.m., about 1 hour and 10 minutes later. When the fire broke out, 12 residents including A evacuated on their own, and no casualties occurred.

The police arrested A on the spot and are investigating the detailed circumstances of the incident. It was confirmed that A, who was intoxicated, committed the crime after arguing with B over whether to go to a karaoke room.

A police official stated, "When officers arrived at the scene, both A and B expressed that they did not want to press charges against each other, but fearing the fight might recur, we took B to the first floor. We judged it appropriate for A to stay with C, but A suddenly committed the crime, leading to her arrest."

The police are continuing their investigation into the detailed circumstances of the case and plan to request an arrest warrant for A once the investigation is complete.
