Jeju Special Self-Governing Province has been operating the "Halla Snowflake Bus" since last December, allowing residents and tourists to comfortably and safely enjoy the winter scenery of Hallasan Mountain.

The 1100 Halla Snowflake Bus, which has been running only on weekends and public holidays since the 21st of last month, has transported about 12,000 visitors to the 1100 Highland, Yeongsil, and Eorimok, together with the regular route 240 bus. Since the 1st of this month, Jeju Province has added two extra trips per day on the Halla Snowflake Bus from Yeongsil to Jeju City during peak congestion hours.

This decision was made to prevent inconvenience in public transportation, as the number of passengers exceeded 2,000 on the 29th, the day after a heavy snowfall on the 28th of last month, with more than 100 people waiting for public transportation, resulting in large crowds.

Jeju Province will begin weekday operations of the Halla Snowflake Bus from the 13th, allowing Hallasan snowflower visitors to travel conveniently.

This measure was taken in consideration of the fact that the 240 bus, which operates on both weekdays and weekends, maintains about 90% of its weekend usage rate during weekdays, and that traffic congestion on the 1100 Road also occurs on weekdays.

With two additional buses operating six more times per day, there will be a total of 15 trips per day, including the 240 bus. The plan is to transport 1,500 people on weekdays and 2,000 people on holidays, supporting up to 55,000 trips per month.

Kim Taewan, Director of the Transportation and Aviation Bureau, said, "This increase in service is a measure to alleviate traffic congestion on the 1100 Road and to accommodate the increasing number of winter tourists visiting Jeju," adding, "We will continue to monitor the usage of the Halla Snowflake Bus to ensure there is no inconvenience in public transportation."
