Mayor Baek Young-hyun: "Communicating with Residents... Making Pocheon a Better Place to Live"

2025 Sohul-eup Resident Empathy Communication Meeting Held

Baek Young-hyun, Mayor of Pocheon City, held a 2025 Sohul-eup Resident Empathy Communication Meeting at the Sohul National Sports Center on the 10th, welcoming the new year of Eulsa.

According to Pocheon City on the 13th, about 80 people attended the meeting, including Baek Young-hyun, Mayor of Pocheon, Im Jong-hoon, Chairman of the Pocheon City Council, members of the Pocheon City Council, Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly member Yoon Chung-sik, Lee Joo-seok, President of the Korea Senior Citizens Association Pocheon Branch, heads of Pocheon City functional organizations, Choi Jae-sung, Chief of Sohul District Police Station, Choi Young-joo, President of the Sohul-eup Senior Citizens Association, heads of institutions and functional organizations in Sohul-eup, Jo Myung-gu, Chairman of the Sohul-eup Village Chiefs Association, and village chiefs from each village.


The meeting proceeded with a report by Yoo Jae-hyun, Mayor of Sohul-eup, on the major achievements of 2024 and the main project plans for 2025, a report on the progress of proposals from the 2024 meeting, an introduction to Pocheon City’s key priority projects by Kim Nam-hyun, Director of the Population Growth Bureau, and a session for listening to and responding to suggestions from Sohul-eup residents.


The main suggestions included △ expansion of walking trails and bicycle roads to improve residential conditions in Sohul-eup △ lifting the protection forest designation for water source conservation at Gomo Reservoir and designating it as a tourist zone after abolishing its use as an agricultural reservoir △ renewal project for the Gomo Lake musical fountain △ rapid supply of city gas to nearby areas following the attraction of a fuel cell power plant in Idonggyo-ri △ increasing cleaning personnel for a cleaner Songu-ri downtown.


Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “Since taking office in the 8th term of the civilian administration, I have continued communication with residents of 14 eup, myeon, and dong every year with the belief that ‘the answer lies in the field.’ Based on this, we listen to the valuable opinions of citizens and prioritize resolving inconveniences in daily life as the top administrative task.” He added, “We will actively reflect the proposed suggestions through communication with residents to make Pocheon City a better place to live.”
