Mapo-gu Supports Simple Window Installation for 100 Vulnerable Households Including Basic Livelihood Security Recipients

Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Gang-su) has begun recruiting participants for the '2025 Private Housing Window Easy Installation Support Project.'

This project was established to improve energy efficiency and reduce the economic burden on vulnerable groups by easily upgrading the windows of old houses to high-efficiency windows.

In the case of old houses with poor airtightness and insulation, window replacement is necessary; however, due to ▲cost burden, ▲relocation issues during construction, and ▲tenant consent issues with landlords, window replacement is realistically difficult.

Accordingly, Mapo-gu is recruiting participants for the 'Easy Window Installation' project, which can improve airtightness and insulation through a simple 2-3 hour process without replacing the existing windows.

The easy window installation involves attaching a highly visible and highly insulating secondary glass over the existing window, which can be used semi-permanently, receiving great response from residents.

This project will recruit a total of 100 households, and selected participants will undergo the easy installation work sequentially starting in March.

Eligible applicants are basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty groups residing in Mapo-gu; however, goshiwon (small room accommodations), LH·SH-owned rental housing, and cases where the window area is less than 0.5㎡ are excluded.

Applications are accepted until Thursday, January 23, and can be submitted by visiting the local community service center. For detailed information about the project, inquiries can be made to the Mapo-gu Clean Environment Division.

A district official stated, “In a situation where weather changes are severe due to abnormal climate, it is important to promptly resolve residents’ inconveniences,” adding, “Since the easy window installation has a great effect relative to its short installation time, we ask for residents’ active interest and participation.”

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “We expect this project to improve energy efficiency and enhance the living environment of vulnerable residents,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to prepare practical support policies that residents can feel.”
